Fantasy about Josie, a young girl with a furtive imagination who falls into a river whilst on a picnic and finds herself in another world. Here she stumbles on a young boy called Vilo who is on a quest to save his brother from the clutches of an evil Priestess. Vilo has embarked on an adventurous journey and he meets a blue furry bat called Odie along the way. Together the three become friends and help each other to finish the quest and to evade the Priestess’s evil army called the Tamarind. These Creatures have long fangs and red fur and are vehemently loyal to their Mistress. Nibor the Raven informs the priestess about the whereabouts and actions of the travelling threesome as they travel through distant lands

What a great fantasy book this was to read, filled with lovely ( and sometimes grumpy 🤣) characters who stick together through thick and thin. You are taken along on a thrilling journey where you meet different races and visit wondrous locations. This is a fabulous children’s fantasy book, that I, as an adult also thoroughly enjoyed. Hopefully there will be more adventures from the Wetlands, with its varied races in the future.

Think Tolkin’s Lord of the Rings combined with Alice through the looking glass with a sprinkling of magical beasts and friendships in the realm of the Labarinyth and you won’t be disappointed. This book is a joy to read and an exceptional feed for your imagination. Easy read chapter lengths introducing characters that will have you craving more and more - you can’t put the book down. Adults and children alike will get lost in Josie’s magical adventure.
